TravelList

| View Project →

My wife is a comprehensive travel planner. But every trip, she writes down her checklist, from scratch, in a notebook. Realizing the inefficiency and potential for error, and being the sort of geeky helpful husband that she claims to love, I naturally digitized it and made it way more complex than a list on a sheet of paper.

Features

  • Create checklist templates and reuse them for multiple trips.
  • Templates have customizable criteria for when items should be included. For international trips, remember to bring the passport.
  • Plan pre-trip items like hotel reservations or pet-sitting.
  • Scale items based on the length of the trip. Bring one shirt per day, plus a backup.

State

It’s HTML and JavaScript and localstorage. It works and saves, but don’t clear your cache or switch browsers. Someday I’ll give it a little backend so that it’s shareable across devices, which should at least 10x the complexity. Nice.

I’m the kind of person who throws things in a bag 5 minutes before it’s time to leave (literally), so you’ll have to ask her if it is still in use.
